With the beautiful fall weather we’ve been experiencing, the Environmental Science classes took their final field trip of the season to Grand Mere’s South Lake Bog!

Students explored how bogs form, discovered unique species, learned about ecological succession, and even uncovered the fascinating history of Stevensville’s cranberry industry.

It’s been a wonderful fall for these classes — full of exploration, hands-on learning, and discovering the incredible diversity of ecosystems located just a few miles from LHS!

Earlier this morning, our 9th graders dove into an interactive career exploration event hosted by Berrien RESA, Lake Michigan College, and Michigan Works! Highlights of the morning: Meeting professionals like engineers, nurses, and attorneys. Talking with college representatives about education and career options. Exploring large equipment, including fire trucks, ambulances, and semi-trucks. Hearing firsthand advice from experienced high school CTE students. The event gave students a hands-on look at how Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs connect to college pathways and future careers. Our students left inspired, informed, and excited about what’s ahead.
