Today we just want to take a moment to thank all of our amazing substitute teachers here at Lakeshore Public Schools. You jump in whenever and wherever we need you, and you do it with patience, flexibility, and a great attitude.
You truly are beyond wonderful, and we’re so grateful for everything you do for our students and staff.
Thank you for being such an important part of our school community!

Our wonderful food service crew did it again and provided a delicious meal for our staff and students. We are so grateful for all they do to make this tradition special every year!

With more people reaching out to shelters and rescues to surrender their pets, our amazing NHS students have partnered with Friends of Berrien County Animal Services to make a difference!
Together, they’ve donated and repackaged pet food into small bags for local food pantries, helping families keep their pets during these challenging times. So far, they’ve provided:
1,250 lbs of dog food
900 lbs of cat food
600 cans of cat food
That’s a total of 2,150 lbs of food going to pets in need!
The response from the pantries has been incredible, and we’re excited to keep this effort going. Huge thanks to our NHS kids and Friends of BCAS for supporting pets and families in our community

Your dedication and leadership make a real difference for our students and community. Thank you for all that you do!

Last week, some of our 7th graders and Lakeshore High School Key Club students took part in United Way of Southwest Michigan’s Rake a Difference Day. They spent the afternoon helping local seniors with their fall clean-up and filled plenty of leaf bags along the way.
This annual event is a great way for students to give back and support seniors who may need an extra hand. We’re proud of their hard work and the positive impact they made in our community!

Watch the latest Lakeshore Podcast. In this episode, we are joined by Marching Band Director Matt Pagel to discuss the 3rd consecutive State Championship at Ford Field and the journey of the 2025 squad! https://webca.st/271175

They gave it their all at the Coloma competition—showing incredible skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship by helping not just their own members, but other teams too. Their hard work paid off with a playoff spot and the Connect Award! This award celebrates their dedication to growing the STEM community and always pushing to learn and improve. Way to go, Lance-A-Bots!

Our students showed their gratitude through heartfelt songs and handmade cards, sharing appreciation with the veterans who joined us. Thank you to all who have served — we are so grateful for your courage and sacrifice!
Veterans Day lunches are happening today at Roosevelt and Stewart, and we’ll be sharing photos from those wonderful events later today — stay tuned!

Celebrating Our Best of the Best Winners at LPS!
Going above and beyond to make a difference just comes naturally to these amazing staff members:
Carolyn Bowman, Stewart Teacher
Laura Bilionis, Roosevelt Paraprofessional
Chelsea Rood, LMS Teacher
Erin Griffith, LHS Teacher
Thank you for all that you do to inspire and support our students every day. We’re so lucky to have you on the LPS team!

We also want to extend our thanks to all veterans. Your commitment and sacrifices have made a difference for our country, and we are grateful for everything you have done to protect our freedoms.

This collaborative artwork reminds us to keep our waterways “uncovered”—free from single-use plastics that threaten our environment. Every year, more than 22 million pounds of plastic pollution end up in the Great Lakes. Plastic never truly disappears; it just breaks down into smaller and smaller pieces known as microplastics.
Through creativity and teamwork, these students are sending an important message: protect our lakes, oceans, and planet by reducing plastic waste, recycling responsibly, and choosing reusable alternatives.

With big hearts and unstoppable energy, our students spent the evening taping boxes, sorting and packing food, bagging apples, and cleaning up — all to help local families enjoy a warm and special holiday meal.
Because of their teamwork and generosity, they assembled complete Thanksgiving meal kits for 78 families — feeding 325 people right here in our community.
We couldn’t be prouder of these students for giving their time, effort, and kindness to make a difference. This is what Lakeshore Pride is all about!

Yesterday, members of our basketball program spent the afternoon giving back to the community by helping distribute food at Caring Cupboard. This marks the third year in a row our team has participated in this outreach event. We’re so proud of our players for their commitment to service both on and off the court!
