November is National Career Development Montht! At LPS, we’re celebrating by helping students in grades 6–8 explore their interests, discover new skills, and plan for the future! From Career Day, where students meet local professionals and explore hands-on career sessions, to Xello lessons with Mrs. Weaver, our students are learning how their passions today can turn into tomorrow’s opportunities.

To showcase their hard work, students created a “Scientist Graveyard” display in front of the school. Each headstone highlights the groundbreaking accomplishments of scientific pioneers such as Marie Curie, Albert Einstein, Dmitri Mendeleev, Rosalind Franklin, and many others.
This creative project not only celebrates their achievements but also reminds us that the impact of great scientific minds continues to inspire future generations!

Lakeshore Public Schools is proud to celebrate Mrs. Suze Miller, a dedicated English Teacher of 22 years and Assistant Varsity Football Coach of 4 years, for being named a Moody on the Market Bold Woman of Business.
Mrs. Miller defines boldness through courage, determination, and heart — never settling, always empowering others, and proving that the word “can’t” doesn’t belong in her vocabulary.
When she joined the Lakeshore Varsity Football program, she made history as the first female coach and ran through the tunnel with the players, fulfilling a dream come true.
Her advice to others: “Do something new, something challenging, and something scary every so often. That’s the secret to staying young at heart.”
We are proud of Mrs. Miller for inspiring students and athletes alike. Check out the whole story here: https://www.moodyonthemarket.com/suze-miller-named-to-the-bold-women-of-business-class-of-2025/

Last Saturday, they marched their way to 1st place in Flight 4 at the Portage Northern MCBA competition!
But that’s not all — they also earned top honors for Outstanding Music, Outstanding Visual, and Outstanding General Effect!
Students are now preparing for Middle School Band Night, and we invite you to celebrate with us during halftime of the varsity football game on October 24th at Al Stockman Stadium. You won’t want to miss it — our 7th and 8th Grade Band students will join the Lakeshore High School Marching Band for an invigorating performance of Bon Jovi’s “Livin’ on a Prayer.”
Together, 275 band students will take the field — a true showcase of our Band Family spirit!
We’ll also be honoring our dedicated seniors, so come out, cheer loud, and help us celebrate this incredible group of musicians.
Let’s fill the stands with pride and energy — GO BAND!

Digital Citizenship Week at Lakeshore Public Schools!
At Lakeshore High, we’re proud to help our students become confident, responsible digital citizens. Over the past two years, our Seminar lessons have focused on:
Building digital readiness
Navigating Google tools and AI responsibly
Understanding the impact of screen time on health and focus
Reflecting on how their digital footprint shapes future opportunities
It’s all part of preparing our Lancers to use technology thoughtfully and with purpose—today and in the future.

Digital Citizenship Week at Lakeshore Public Schools
This week we celebrate Digital Citizenship Week, but at Lakeshore Middle, we focus on staying safe, responsible, and confident online all year long.
6th Grade: Learned about online safety and cyberbullying with OK2Say and kicked off Chromebook Bootcamp to practice responsible device use.
6th–8th Grades: Explored MBF Teen Safety Matters® to recognize and respond to bullying, abuse, and other digital dangers.
7th Grade: Dived into digital literacy & citizenship with Common Sense Education, learning to make smart choices online.
We’re proud to help our students grow into responsible, empowered digital citizens—one click at a time!

Our 3rd–5th grade students are practicing their typing with Typing Club, a Google for Education partner. This engaging, self-paced program helps students build accuracy and speed, supporting their success across all digital learning activities!

Students explored how bogs form, discovered unique species, learned about ecological succession, and even uncovered the fascinating history of Stevensville’s cranberry industry.
It’s been a wonderful fall for these classes — full of exploration, hands-on learning, and discovering the incredible diversity of ecosystems located just a few miles from LHS!
Earlier this morning, our 9th graders took over Career Pathway Day 2025 at Lake Michigan College’s Mendel Center, hosted by Berrien RESA, Michigan Works, and Lake Michigan College.
Students got hands-on with six career pathways, from engineering and health sciences to arts and business. They met local professionals, tried out interactive activities like virtual welding and robotics, and even explored fire trucks, ambulances, and semi-trucks.
Some of our current CTE students and teachers also presented at the event, proudly putting their skills on display and showing younger students what’s possible through our programs.
The day gave students a real taste of local industries and CTE opportunities, helping them see what careers could be right here in their community.

The Lakeshore Marching Band has been practicing non-stop, nailing every note and perfecting every step—poised to shine at this Saturday’s competition at Portage Northern High School.
Let’s hear it for our amazing band—good luck and show everyone what Lakeshore pride is all about! Go Band!

Back in the classroom this week, students will use the data they collected to create a project that brings all of their discoveries together. We can’t wait to see their work!

Today, we celebrate the spirit of exploration and discovery that has shaped our world. It’s a chance to reflect on history, honor curiosity, and learn more about the many cultures and stories that make our community so vibrant.
